  Conference Outline
  Technique Class:
A set of repertoire of different levels will be given in advance for the participants to prepare and memorize. Participants will be taught on the technical aspects of instrumental playing, how to improve it to a higher level and to perform the pieces for the final concerts.

Orchestra:
Participants will learn ensemble techniques, how to play and listen sensitively in a larger group, and to perform the pieces for the final concerts. Parts will be given ahead of time.
 

Rock Orchestra:
Learn about rock music and culture and how string instruments fit into a rock orchestra. Participants will learn to improvise in the rock style and present their performance in the gala concert.

Jazz Orchestra:
Learn about the roots of jazz culture, play jazz tunes, improvise in the jazz style and aspire to be a jazz string artist like Chris Howes, Stephane Grappelli, Regina Carter and Turtle Island String Quartet.

Masterclasses:
Participants will prepare 1 or 2 pieces and receive individual coaching from the faculty. The masterclasses may be observed by the rest of the conference participants.

Chamber Music:
Selected participants will be grouped into duos, trios, quartets or small chamber ensembles. These chamber groups will be coached by the chamber music faculty and will present their performances in concerts during the conference.


Young Artists Programme:
The Young Artists Programme is aimed at participants below the age of 16 with a high calibre of performing skills and musicianship. The selected students will undergo a 4-day programme of Master classes with world-class faculty members. There will be daily performances of solo and chamber music by these participants.

Showmanship classes:
Participants will be taught on how to prepare themselves prior to a performance, and to present themselves in their utmost best on stage.

Faculty Concerts:
Invited professors will perform for the participants and the public.

Erhu Class for Western Instruments: 
Learn from an Erhu concert artist how to play some simple Chinese tunes with special Chinese music effects and nuances.

Special Effects Class:
Have fun playing your string instrument in the most unconventional and ingenious ways, and learn how to compliment a story or movie script with violin sound effects.

Fun Time Performance by the Faculty:
The faculty will perform music and skits to make you laugh till you drop!

Talks:
For students and parents. Some of the topics to be presented:
• Everyone is born creative and how to bring out the best creative potential in each child
• The Suzuki philosophy and how it works in the family
• Ways to motivate your child to practice
• Why music lessons?
• How to choose a violin and violin maintenance
And more…

Movie Time:
Music related movies and cartoon for younger participants.

Lunch and Tea Time Concerts:
Participants will perform solos, duets and in smaller groups. Selection is based on auditions held a week before the conference.

Final Rehearsal:
Rehearse for the Gala Concert at the final day of the conference.

Lunch/Dinner:
Enjoy catered food and interacting with the family members, teachers and friends.
